LP to CD Transfer Are you concerned about preserving your LPs?  Harmony Audio will transfer your favorite records to compact discs with 20-bit resolution.

The process begins by hand-treating each LP to the top-line VPI HW-17 cleaner as well as a carbon brushing.  Our transfer preserves the signal in the analogue domain until the last stage. Here is a step-by-step of how the transfer is performed:

          1)   The LP is spun in a VPI TNT Reference turntable.
          2)   The signal travels to the phono stage of a Convergent Audio Technology SL-1
Ultimate preamp, which is tubed with smooth-plate Telefunken 12ax7s and
Amperex Holland d-getter gold pin 6922s.
          3)   Finally, the signals is transferred to a professional Sony CD recorder using
Sony's exclusive 20-bit Super Bit Mapping process.

Super Bit Mapping (SBM) is a process designed to take advantage of improvements in Analog to Digital converter quality.  It is used by Sony to make the highest-resolution transfers from old sources to new formats, such as compact discs.

The SBM circuit uses noise shaping filters with a frequency response similar to that of the human ear. This reduces noise in the audible range, while it feeds back and reintegrates four bits of low-level data that are normally lost in the conversion to 16-bit audio.

You will hear analog recordings with musical accuracy that approaches 20 bits of resolution.  The SBM improvement is clearly audible.  Music sounds more lifelike, more vivid, and more dynamic.
